Brendan and Ash Hand first met Lawrence Fagg, the owner and founder of Kight Technologies, and were immediately blown away by the potential of Kight’s revolutionary wind and solar-powered lighting technology and integrated battery systems. Recognizing the transformative impact of the technology, Brendan and Ash knew that by combining their extensive experience in multiple sectors and Kight’s cutting-edge innovations, they could create something truly special. With the right expertise at the table, they saw the opportunity to not only bring this ground breaking technology to the U.S. market but to lead the way in redefining how sustainable energy solutions are delivered.

 

Over the first 6 months, they worked closely with Tier 1 contractors such as AMEY, Murphy’s, and other significant players, including major airports, to refine their expertise in lighting infrastructure. This collaboration gave them a unique insight into the complexities of large-scale lighting projects and the technological demands of the industry.

With this robust foundation, they recognized the potential for Kight’s innovative technology to fill a gap in the market, and their vision quickly expanded beyond the UK. Their goal was clear to create a business around a product that would be the perfect fit for the U.S. market, meeting the needs of municipalities, master-planned communities, and a broad range of construction sectors, from portable to permanent solutions.

 

To ensure the feasibility of this vision, Ash spent 6-8 months on the ground in the U.S. as part of an in-depth scouting exercise, collaborating with industry leaders, including the LA City Bureau of Street Lighting, to gain a comprehensive understanding of what was required to launch successfully.

Through this hands-on research and collaboration, they were able to introduce Off Grid Innovation USA LLC with a product that not only meets the needs of the U.S. market but also integrates state-of-the-art technology, including solar and wind energy inputs, cutting-edge LED lighting, and dark sky lenses redefining how lighting is powered and delivered.
